Professional Standards for BC Educators

The Professional Standards for BC Educators framework provides principals by which the work of educators is structured. These standards are far reaching and apply to various aspects of an educator’s conduct. Ultimately, they require educators to hold themselves to a high public standard and lead the way in developing a world in which social equity and quality education for all is more prevalent. In order to accomplish these goals, educators are mandated to contribute towards truth and reconciliation; the healing of wounds caused by colonialism; recognizing the history of the First Peoples, Inuit, and Metis; advocate for student needs; help foster the well being of students’ families; and create safe, inclusive learning environments. In order to ensure these goals are worked toward and remain a priority, I will integrate the professional standards for BC educators into my teaching philosophy.
