Philosophy, History, and Politics Conference
This conference is an annual event at Thompson Rivers University (TRU) and it is open to all students who would like to attend. In my nearly 5 years at TRU I have taken every opportunity I get to attend and support the conference in some way. More often than not this is done by attending presentations, which are all done by students from philosophy, history, and politics departments from various universities. My experiences at these presentations have helped me develop my social and cultural awareness and responsibility. These presentations have also given me insight into global issues that helps me understand various perspectives on important issues. This development has and will continue to transfer into the way I view teaching and learning.

IDays at TRU
Like the Philosophy, History, and Politics Conference, IDays at TRU is an annual event that celebrates learning and various perspectives. More specifically, IDays is put on each year to develop a transcultural appreciation among those who attend and absorb this rich experience. I have made multiple efforts to attend IDays events, and will continue to do so in the future in order to build knowledge of other cultures and learn how to support learners of various backgrounds.

Science World Science and Communication Workshop
The Science and Communication Workshop was a one day event at TRU that was put on in the Fall of 2019. This workshop was open to current and aspiring educators looking for new ways to enrich their methods of science instruction. I am glad I participated in this workshop because it gave me insight into how I can teach science in a ways I had not thought of before. What is also important is that this workshop fits well with the content we teacher candidates are learning in our Science Education class this winter semester. Using what I have learned from both of these experiences, I look forward to contributing to a change in the way students learn science and other content. That is, through inquiry and hands-on experiential learning.
